To facilitate easy reference by scholars, policy makers and other stakeholders, the NCIDE documents and disseminates the policies and practices on innovations in distance education in the entire ODL system in the country and abroad. The reports of the research studies, seminars, conferences, etc. are prepared and published from time to time. Some of them are listed below:
BOOKS
Innovations in Open and Distance Learning System for Quality Education
Towards the objectives of sharing and showcasing experiences on innovations and innovative practices in the ODL system in the above mentioned areas, and of exploring avenues for innovations to cater to the educational needs of new age distance learners, the NCIDE organised a National Seminar during 14-15 October, 2020. On the basis of the research papers submitted in the seminar by eminent practitioners in the ODL system, a book titled “Innovations in Open and Distance Learning System for Quality Education” was published. This book discusses the innovative initiatives taken in various areas of the ODL system, such as curriculum, use of novel technologies in instructional, evaluation, and more. It is hoped that this book will appeal to not only the teachers of the ODL system, but also to those from the conventional system, and to the researchers, students, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in innovations in education.
 
 
One Decade of Innovations@NCIDE (2019)
This e-book is based on the innovations for the ODL system developed at NCIDE over a period of about ten years. These innovations have been done by NCIDE faculty either on an individual level or with collaboration with other faculty members of IGNOU. For more information click here
A Collection of Innovation and Ideas in Open and Distance Learning System (2018)
This e-book is based on the ideas and innovations submitted by the faculty and staff members of the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institutions all over India for the award of the Gold Medal for Innovation in ODL by the University from 2006 to 2016 - a span of ten years. What makes these ideas and innovations special is the fact that these have originated from the practitioners in the ODL system, and thus has great value. For more information click here
Creative Sparks of Innovations (2013)
This book is based on a series of popular talks on innovations and developments in open and distance education which were meant to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas and experiences in the field of distance education and to foster the spirit of innovation among the faculty and students. Various experts in the field of ICT, distance education, management from varied organizations from all over the country were invited in this talk series. A Bibliography of Innovations in Distance Education (2007)
This bibliography, designed by the National Centre of Innovations in Distance Education, is somewhat different from the other bibliographies on Distance Education. Our motto is to provide you a bibliography on the potential innovative areas, which are broad in themselves. This bibliography introduces you to the different potential areas of innovations in Distance Education with their brief descriptions. It further provides you the Uniform Resource Locators (URLs), which give you information on the innovations that are happening around us. For more information click here
 
PROCEEDINGS OF SEMINARS
A Report on One-Day Seminar on Innovative Practices in IGNOU (2019)
NCIDE organized a One Day Seminar on “Innovative Practices in IGNOU” on April 22, 2019, on the occasion of World Creativity and Innovation Day. Besides two keynotes on Innovations in ODL, emphasizing on Future Prospects of Innovation and Creativity and Innovation by eminent experts, there were ten presentations on Innovative Practices in different fields of ODL. Summary of Proceedings of the Half-Day Seminar on Developing a Mobile App for IGNOU Students (2018)
This half day Seminar was expected to serve as a forum for sharing of experiences and exploring the usefulness of mobile apps. It was expected to generate the necessary information on the part of stakeholders to develop a useful and cost-effective mobile app for the IGNOU learners. The event brought together about 30 teachers and academics of IGNOU who deliberated on the different issues of the seminar themes. The event also saw the participation of about ten research scholars, one of whom was a speaker in the seminar. The student innovators of IGNOU were especially encouraged. Summary of the Seminar Proceedings : One-Day Seminar on Innovative Ways of Offering Lab-based, Skill development and Technical Programmes in the context of the UGC Regulations on ODL 2017 Held on December 12, 2017, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi
In this Seminar, it was expected that the position of UGC regarding the lab-based programmes of the ODL system would be clearly understood. It was expected that several innovative ideas would emerge for offering lab-based, skill development and technical programmes through the ODL system in the deliberations. The suggestions emerging from the discussions will help the University in designing appropriate data-driven policies that are based on well researched feedback from all the stakeholders of the system. Half-Day Seminar on Sharing Creative Technological Interventions in ODL (2015)
In the ODL system most of the time distance learners are away from the teacher and it is only the SLM which acts as study material as well as the teacher in print. A Report on National Seminar in Distance Education and Its Applications (2009)
The National Seminar on Innovations in Distance Education and Its Applications (IDEA-2008) was organized to foster the spirit of innovation. NCIDE, IIT Delhi and Microsoft came together on a common platform to search for the technologies that would facilitate innovative solutions for distance education in India. A Report of the Study on Students’ Perception of On-Demand Examination in IGNOU (2011)
The IGNOU has been doing innovative experiments to make the open and distance learning more learners friendly and useful for the varied group of distance learners to suit their needs. One of such experiments is the implementation of the scheme of On-Demand Exam. The scheme has been implemented for more than 135 courses of IGNOU through 15 Regional Centers. Critical Issues in Distance Science Lab Practicals : A Study (2009)
This study explores the teaching and learning methods of science practical in the lab sessions of IGNOU and provides useful insights for designing simulated environments for science experiments for the learners of IGNOU. For more information click here
Learner’s Preference for Modes of Counseling : A Study (2007)

A Report of the Quick Feedback Survey on the Use of EduSat (2007)

Report of the Mentor Mentee Programme 2020
IGNOU was assigned by the Ministry of Education to mentor five other IICs. Various types of activities were organised in 2022, such as Orientation Cum Vision Building Mentoring Sessions, and Expert Talks. This report contains the details of all the activities organised through this Programme.

A Report of Science@Mobile Project (2015)
This NCIDE project, in collaboration with the Vigyan Prasar, was aimed at developing the potential of mobile phones for science popularization, to spread the scientific knowledge including science news and updates among the stakeholders through mobile services, and to create interest among the people towards science and hence to develop a scientifically empowered society in India.
