National Centre for Disability Studies (NCDS) was established in 2006 to cater to the Educational, Vocational and Rehabilitation needs of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) through a wide range of activities.
National Centre for Disability Studies is the Center specifically looking after the care and cause of students with disabilities in general and students with disabilities studying in IGNOU in particular. NCDS takes care for the higher education of students with disabilities right from the admission till he/she continue in study and finally appearing for term end evaluation.
Since the education is considered as powerful tool for empowerment and mainstreaming of persons with disabilities, open and distance learning is one of the suitable modes for all types of persons with disabilities because of its inclusive features of teaching learning.
NCDS is committed to create awareness about need and potential of persons with disabilities alongwith strengthening the capacity of various service providers and teachers in supporting the education of student with disabilities.
