Prof. Rakhi Sharma is a Professor in the discipline of Electrical Engineering and was former Director, School of Engineering & Technology (SOET), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. She holds doctoral degree, Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India and post graduation, Master of Technology (M.Tech.) with Distinction from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, M.P. She obtained her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Government Engineering College Jabalpur, M.P. Her areas of research interest includes Renewable Energy, Solar Energy technology and applications, Energy Systems and Environmental issues, Electrical Power System. Prof. Rakhi Sharma is the recipient of prestigious All India University Gold Medal award for ‘Innovations in Distance Education’-2010. She has been conferred with the All India University Gold Medal for the ‘Best Research Paper Award’-2014 at IGNOU, New Delhi. Apart from this she also has many attainments in sport, won medals in state/university level tournaments and represented M.P. State at National Level Table Tennis tournaments. She won Youth Merit Award and selected for the National Scholarship Scheme for meritorious candidates from Madhya Pradesh. She has more than 26 years of teaching and research experience and contributed significantly to the fields of electrical engineering and renewable energy. She has contributed extensively in designing, development and implementation of several technical academic courses at Certificate/UG/PG level in the area of electrical power and energy as Course/Programme coordinator. She has been associated with many collaborative projects. Under the Industry-education collaborative projects of IGNOU and Ministry of Power, she took initiatives as Project coordinator and planned, designed and successfully launched two innovative competency based skill development and capacity building training programmes in Power Distribution for engineers, managers and technicians engaged in power sector. Under the industrial-education work linkage programme in association with International Solar Alliance, she has worked for the development of solar application programme. She has been associated with curriculum development of courses, edited chapters/blocks and developed Self Instructional Material of many technical courses at the UG/PG/Certificate/Ph.D. level. She specializes in use of multi-media and e-learning resources in teaching learning and coordinated/conducted more than 100 Videos/Teleconferencing/EDUSAT programmes from EMPC Studios, IGNOU, delivered several educational programmes through Gyan Darshan (Television), Swayam Prabha DTH channel and interactive radio counseling through Gyan Vani (FM radio). She has developed skill based MOOC (Massive Open and Online Course) titled ‘Electricity and Safety Measures’ that is hosted on the SWAYAM platform of the Ministry of Education. She has over 35 research publications in international journals of repute and international/national conferences. She is reviewer of reputed international journals and also delivered invited talks in reputed organizations. She has been an Executive member of DKDF, Board of technical education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi (2015-18), Member, UG Board of Studies, J.C. Bose University of Science and technology, YMCA, Faridabad (2019-20), Selection committee and expert committee member in other institution/organizations. She is life member of ISTE, ICGR, Energy Forum IIT Delhi & other professional bodies. She actively contributed/contributes in corporate life of IGNOU as a Member in various Statutory Bodies of IGNOU such as School Board, Academic Council, and Students Support Services, & member of Doctoral committee, Energy Audit Committee, Investment Sub Committee, Equivalence Committee, ICASH Committee, Examination Committee, Print Committee, Sports & Cultural Committee, Convocation Committee, as well as chaired several committees within the University. |
